Starring in more than one role - Thomas Cook style

"This is my first season working for Thomas Cook, and I’m absolutely loving it. It’s a massive contrast compared to my previous job in a call centre - I get to meet fantastic new people, discover new cultures, play games all day and dance all night. So what’s not to love? Of course the weather’s much better over here too in Majorca. And being outside most of the time, I’ve got a fabulous tan.

When I first found out that my working day would be about 16 hours long, I didn’t know where I was going to get the energy from. But, as every day is completely different, things are never boring. And time flies by so quickly when you’re having fun.

Before we start our first activity of the morning, we do street theatre around the pool, such as a comedy cleaning routine. It’s a real chance to use your imagination, and it’s always a guaranteed laugh. From table tennis and speed pool to killer darts and French boules, activities continue throughout the day until 5pm. My favourite has to be water polo.

After rehearsing and preparing for the popular evening show, we then head back to our apartments for a spot of sunbathing, and perhaps a quick nap. It’s then back to the hotel and time for the Dizzy and Shades Shakedown, the kid’s disco we run every night. And it’s just as entertaining for us as it is for the children.

For me, the best part of the evening is when we get to perform. It’s your chance to shine and, as you spend every day with them, guests become your friends. So the support they give when you’re on stage is amazing, and so exhilarating. True, it’s a lot of hard work. But if you’ve an outgoing personality, love fun in the sun and have a burning passion to perform, I really can’t think of a better job. So here’s hoping we see you next season."
